What Was In My Mix Box?

My contents were for a carrot cake. The ingredients were pre-measured and in numbered bags. There was a card for the ingredients that I needed that were not in the box, such as carrots, eggs, cream cheese, butter, and milk, and the equipment you would need. A small numbered bag with all the spices needed plus 2 small bottles of measured vanilla. One for the cake and the other for the frosting. It also included a small bag with 2 toothpicks for checking the doneness of the cake.

A booklet with the instructions. In order to remake this recipe, you will need to keep the card that has all the ingredients and the measurements for each, and the booklet.

It would have been much easier, in my opinion, to have just one card with all the ingredients and instructions.

My Experience With Mix Box

The box was well packaged. I took out all the bags and began to follow the instructions, which, by the way, were very clear and easy to follow. But as I started adding the ingredients per the instructions, I noticed that I had 2 bags marked with the number 3.

This would have confused a new baker. The larger bag with the number 3 should have been number 4. It was the measured powdered sugar for the frosting. The smaller bag that was numbered 3 was the spices.

By following the instructions and the numbered bags, an inexperienced baker would have added the powdered sugar to the cake batter. Therefore they would not have the powdered sugar for their frosting.

I know mistakes are made, we are human, after all, but this is a business, and I believe they should have double-checked the contents before sending the box.

The equipment list called for 2 8-inch cake pans. I only had 9-inch cake pans, but the cake turned out fine. Thank goodness. I was not going to run out and buy 2 8-inch pans.

The Verdict

The cake was delicious. My family absolutely loved it. I got many compliments. The convenience of the ingredients being pre-measured was great. It did save me some cleanup time.

The instructions were very easy to follow. The only blimp was the incorrect labeling of the bag containing the powdered sugar.

I would recommend Mix Box, although it was a little pricey, many would find it worth the price due to the convenience.

I didn’t have to make a list and go shopping for the ingredients. They were delivered right to my door.

So, it’s really about whether you think the convenience is worth the extra cost.
